Amy Jephta

Amy Jephta is a South African playwright, screenwriter and theatre director.^[1] Works include Kristalvlakte,^[2] Other People's Lives,^[3] Sonskyn Beperk^[4]' and While You Weren't Looking.^[5] She is a lecturer at the University of Cape Town^[6] and the first recipient of the Emerging Theatre Director's Bursary in South Africa.^[7] Her work has been staged at The Fugard Theatre, The Bush Theatre, The Royal Court Theatre, Jermyn Street Theatre and Theatre503. Jephta is an alumni of the Lincoln Center Theatre Directors Lab^[8] and was one of the Mail & Guardian's 200 Young South Africans in 2013.^[9] Her monologue Shoes was performed by James McAvoy and directed by Danny Boyle as part of the 2015 show The Children's Monologues^[10] at The Royal Court Theatre.
