Amphicrates
Amphicrates was a king of Samos.
Naval battle
Whilst king he acted to develop naval strength for an attack against Aegina,[1] a decision that was motivated perhaps as a result of alliances formed from the Lelantine War. The attack occurred about the year 670 B.C.
Reign
Due to his tyranny, there was an uprising of slaves, these having moved to Mount Karvouni from there launching attacks upon the king. This continued until some kind of settled agreement was reached allowing the slaves to move and live instead in Ephesus.[2]
