All Trap Music is a music brand founded and curated by Jim Kirk (aka JiKay). It began as a YouTube channel aimed to support to the new wave of electronic trap music emerging from North America. [1] Cited by Vibe Magazine as "the UK based brand that helped bring trap music to where it is right now",[2] All Trap Music has developed from its YouTube roots and now creates and sells compilation albums, hosts international events and sells its own range of merchandise. Since February 2013 All Trap Music has been run as a joint venture with AEI Media.

History

Established 18 July 2012,[3] All Trap Music launched with 10 tracks uploaded on the same day. Its inaugural upload was RL Grime & Salva’s remix of Kanye West’s ‘Mercy’. This was followed by early tracks from UZ, Munchi, Flosstradamus, DJ Sliink, D!RTY AUD!O, CRNKN, ETC!ETC! and more. Many of these artists have been cited as leading producers within the genre [4][5][6] and have consistently featured on the channel ever since. Other artists who have appeared on All Trap Music and are recognised as innovative and influential are TNGHT, Baauer, Bro Safari, Hucci, Keys N Krates, gLAdiator, Loudpvck and Mr. Carmack.

Subscribers & Views

All Trap Music has been cited as one of the earliest channels to promote and celebrate the new wave of electronic trap music. A year after inception All Trap Music had 177,630 music fans subscribing to the channel with 21.41million total views and an average of 89,530 views per day.[7]

AEI Media

In February 2013 JiKay signed a joint venture deal with London-based music brand AEI Media in order to develop the brand’s presence beyond YouTube. The first example of the two brands working together was the release of All Trap Music’s eponymous compilation on 10 February 2013.[8]

Products & Services

Events

Events were the first All Trap Music activity beyond its internet base. The brand’s debut event was hosted in association with London promoters BassLaced and held at The Nest, London on 23 November 2012 with Flosstradamus and Kito. Since this debut, All Trap Music have held numerous events in the UK, mainland Europe and North America including Brighton, Nottingham, Sheffield, Munich, Porto, Miami, Austin and Miami. Artists who have performed at these events include Just Blaze, UZ, Baauer, gLAdiator, Mr Carmack, Buku, Loudpvck, RL Grime, Massappeals, Carnage, Stooki Sound, Hucci, Darq E Freaker and JiKay himself.[9]

Albums

Released 10 February 2013, All Trap Music was the brand’s debut compilation album. It featured 19 tracks from artists such as RL Grime, S-X, XXTRAKT, Baauer, Bro Safari, Buku, HPNTK, 12th Planet, Hucci and UZ. Described by the music press as the first album of its kind [10][11] it reached number two in the iTunes dance chart with Vibe Magazine stating it was "the world’s biggest selling trap album ever." [2] All Trap Music Volume 2 followed on 17 November 2013. Featuring 33 tracks across two CDs, the tracklist indicated how the genre had developed and influenced other genres with trap remixes of high profile electronic music artists such as Jamie Lidell, Disclosure, A-Track and Diplo. All Trap Music Volume 2 reached number nine in the US Billboard Chart [11]

Editorial content

All Trap Music began to add its own content to the brand’s YouTube channel on 1 February 2013. All Trap Music – London was its debut event review and has since led to a range of editorial video features, including the two-part series All Trap Music At Miami WMC 2013 where the brand interview artists within the genre such as Bro Safari, Flosstradamus, gLAdiator and 12th Planet. All Trap Music have also launched We Out Here; a series of short event reviews of trap events across the world.

All Trap Music Sample Pack

On 24 March 2014 All Trap Music released its debut production sample pack. The pack contained 1GB of FX, loops and pre-sets.[12]

Merchandise

All Trap Music launched its own online store and a new range of merchandise. Branded products on sale include All Trap Music’s two albums, stickers and T-shirts for males and females.[13]
