Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College (Bengali: আচার্য জগদীশ চন্দ্র বসু কলেজ) is a well-respected English Medium undergraduate degree college affiliated with the University of Calcutta, India. It is named after the celebrate scientist Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose. It has been catering good education to for many years.The College is situated in the heart of "the city of joy" near Rabindrasadan Metro Station .The aim of the college is not merely to prepare a student for becoming professionally competent and technically skilled, but also to inculcate a sense of social awareness in them.The college is considered as one of the best institution for under graduation under the university of calcutta. The college has some special faculties like air-conditioning room,Lifts(both for teachers and handicapped students), free WiFi zone, central library with computer faculty.
History
The college Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College was established and can possibly be traced back to the year 1968, when the Calcutta University approved the affiliation of the twin institutions with the name of Birla College of Science and Birla College of Education simultaneously bearing the address, 2, Moira Street, Calcutta–700017 being established and organized by the then trustee of Vidya Mandir Society and Junior Hindi High School under the control of the Birla Group were amalgamated into one single college in 1969 under the name of Birla College of Science and Education.
Late Prof. Shambhu Ghosh, the then Minister-in-Charge of Higher Education of Government of West Bengal was given the authority of college by Birla Management, some time in August 1978.
For converting the college as a Government College in pursuit of the Governments deal, the Calcutta University appointed Prof. S. R. Das as the college administrator on 19 May 1979 and took over the college management and a bill was raised before the legislative assemble for permanently converting it to Government College by taking over the management of the college.
The history of development of the college with its original base at Vidya Mandir Society and Junior Hindi High School ruled by the Birla Group, demands salute and thanks from all corners of the society. The long-standing battle was only fought by the unified synchronization of thoughts and efforts of the Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College teaching staff and the employees and students with the constant impetus and interest of the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal.

The struggling experience that we have earned through the long way journey provides us enough impetuous to make solemn affirmation that we must put our entire endeavour to set up a good institution of reputation with a definite motto enlighting the learners to go beyond their limitation, to build up their career as a fruitful instrument for the development of the country and to inspire themselves to earn leadership for clearing all the evils of the society caused by unfortunate illiteracy and awful communal feeling.
Accreditation
Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India (NAAC) with C Grade; CGPA: 1.89 as per Accreditation 47th EC on 29 January 2009.
