The 313th Air Expeditionary Wing (313 AEW) is a provisional unit of the United States Air Forces Africa (AFAFRICA), Seventeenth Air Force. It was last stationed at Moron Air Base, Spain.
History
The Wing was formed to support Operation Odyssey Dawn, a mission to enforce a no-fly zone put in place to protect the civilian population of Libya from 19-31 Mar 2011. Later, Operation Unified Protector which is the continuation of the international response to the unrest in Libya and enforcement of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973 of a no-fly zone over Libya.
It was composed of elements of active-duty and activated Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard units. The lineage and history of this provisional unit to the inactive 313th Tactical Airlift Wing is undetermined.
